i really wish i didn't have three mothers. two is more than plenty.

i wish the second would just... idk, go away and leave me alone.

i've been trying to be more about my feelings and self-awareness lately, and i've noticed that when i think of her, my primary emotion is revulsion. both toward her, and toward the person i am in relation to her. i don't like who i am when i'm around her.

i don't know what to do with this yet. but i know that it is. it's a start, i guess.

My train for Edinburgh leaves in less than twelve hours, yet I do not know where my towel is. Still, I'm pretty sure Edinburgh isn't sufficiently out in the sticks that they don't have towels.*

You might have heard about Heinz pulling the advert for its 'controversial' deli mayo in the UK. (In case you haven't, it featured a family with two dads, who kissed on-screen before one of them went off to work.) It was pulled because apparently it offended 'people' (inverted commas since if mutual expression of love and affection offends you I'm gonna classify you under 'pond scum', and Linnaeus be damned). This offends me, so I fired off a well-reasoned letter of complaint to their customer services department.

This is what I received.

Heinz pulled the ad in the UK because our consumer research showed that the ad failed in its attempt to be humorous and offended people on all sides.

I have tickets to T in the Park this weekend, a hotel booked for Thursday night, a train ticket for Thursday morning and a full (13 hour) day of work on Wednesday. Therefore, I need to pack today, which would be doable if only I owned everything I plan to take in full working order. So, I need to shop today for stuff so that I can pack that stuff, which means I need to be actually up and about sometime this morning, because I have none of this stuff sorted.

CAN'T. SLEEP. MUST. FLAIL!

Thank Christ I did my washing yesterday!

Congratulations Rafa! *g* What an epic though... the only trouble with matches between Federer and Nadal is deciding who to root for. (I went with Roger last year, so this was Rafa's turn. I would have been actually crushed if Roger had pulled his comeback off.)

Well maybe not the only trouble. See, they have this epic matches and rivalry thing going on, where they seem all friendly off the courts, and then on the courts there is, y'know, sweating and noises and really intense stares at each other over the net. And then today there were rain breaks which they spent *together* in the locker room.

So now I want tennis RPS in which Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal want to have lots and lots of really kinky sex. But they both want to be in charge, because on the face of things subbing doesn't sound like fun! What to do? I know, let's have the tennis decide :D Of course, this is pretty hard on Rafa, who loses a lot to Roger at first (due to relative lack of experience ^^), but he soon finds that he's a natural submissive, and he likes it! But of course Roger notices this and starts to suspect Rafa of not trying as hard as he could do on court! And all this comes to a head at the final of Wimbledon 2008, (and the French Open, but I haven't figured that bit out yet) where Rafa has to win or be punished! And there is sweaty locker room sex in the locker room during the rain breaks!

Mmmm, tennis bunnies. I'm so going to the special hell. I blame bandom, of course. Why don't I have tennis icons?

I could write you one of those, but all you'd get is *wibble*, and also *thinky thoughts*. I really need to go back through the season and look at overall arcs and stuff before I form anything coherent. Mostly I'm looking at RTD and wishing I had his job (although I guess it's Steven Moffat's now? We'll see how he goes) because I'm pretty sure I could do something better with the overall longterm structure and direction of the show.

Anyhow, this post is a Little Sis Appreciation Post. She's also a big DW fan (and fangirl-in-training), and she and I have a Saturday night Who-ritual viewing experience. It's not very complex. We sit down and watch Doctor Who, and (important detail, this) that's it. No interruptions of any kind.

Cue Alcoholic Cousin, around five minutes in.

AC: *whine*
Me: *ignore*
AC: *whinge*
LS: *eyeroll*
AC: *moan* Why aren't you listening to meee?
Me: ...

At this point Little Sis actually got up and dragged Alcoholic Cousin out of the room.

LS: (calmly) We don't want to listen to you, because we're watching Doctor Who, and we've been looking forward to this all week, and we don't want to miss it. Come back in an hour or so.

And then she pushed the AC out and closed the door.

Me: *applause*
LS: I'd say you're welcome, but she was totally pissing me off as well, so...
Me: I'm welcome, aren't I?
LS: Yep. Also, you owe me.

And there was peace! I wish I'd had some of that assertiveness and confidence at her age (she's thirteen). I love my little sister a lot.

(My method would have used considerably more yelling and caused a scene, which would have resulted in apocalyptic night-wreckage. Maybe some hair-pulling also.)

Y'know what, I actually hate being this whiny. All I ever seem to talk about is Alcoholic Cousin - I just read back over the last few weeks and it's not good reading at all. This is the last time I mention family shit here until the AC goes elsewhere.
